From the Desk of Fr. Chris
Dear Friends,
It is with a heart full of gratitude that I write to share some important news about my next step in ministry. After 23 incredible years serving our parish community, I have been given a new assignment by our Bishop. While I know this transition may bring a mix of emotions, I want to assure that this decision comes from a place of great trust in God's plan.
I have been tremendously blessed to serve here for much longer than many of my contemporaries, thanks to the generosity of our Bishops. Their kindness also allowed my father to reside with me until his recent passing- something for which I will always be deeply grateful. This parish, its churches, and our school have been my home, and you, my family. It has been an honor to walk with you in faith, celebrating life's joys and sorrows together.
My new assignment will be to serve as Vicar General of the Diocese and Moderator of the Curia, working full-time with the bishop in the administration of the Diocese. In the corporate world, this role is like that of Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the pastoral and practical aspects of diocesan leadership. Alongside this responsibility, I will also be assigned as pastor of St. Patrick's Parish in Springfield, a small community near the Diocesan Chancery and continue my involvement at Camp Holy Cross.
I know change can be difficult, but I ask that our focus remain on gratitude rather than grief. The Lord has blessed us abundantly in our time together, and I trust He will continue to guide both me and this parish into a bright future. A new pastor will be appointed to continue this work we have built together, and I have no doubt that God will provide the right shepherd for you.
Please pray for me as I begin this new chapter, as I will continue to pray for all of you. I look forward to the opportunities ahead, and I leave with nothing but love, gratitude, and trust in God's plan for us. Thank you and please know you will always be a part of me.
My new assignment will officially begin on July 1st. Until that time I remain here, continuing to serve as your pastor and cherish these final months with you.
With best wishes, I am
Fr. Chris
