SAINT AGES CATHOLIC COMMUNITY
FEBRUARY 14 - MARCH 31, 2024
Lent is a time of renewal and conversion. During these forty days we discover where we need to change. We look to Jesus for direction. We look to Jesus for direction. All our parishioners are invited to participate in Lenten and Easter Masses and other spiritual activities as listed:
Lenten Legulations
- Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of abstinence from meat and also days of fast, that is, only one full meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be take according to one's needs, but together they should not equal another full meal.
- The other Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from meat.
- The obligation to abstain from meat commences at fourteen (14) years of age.
- The obligation to fast commences at eighteen (18) years of age and ends at fifty-nine (59).
- Please note: Although the faithful may excuse themselves for a just cause from these laws of fast and abstinence, there is an obligation to substitute another penance in its place. No Catholic should lightly excuse himself/herself from these Lenten obligations.
